Choose your start and finish points
Map point 1: Seaford Station
Arrive by train and pre-book a taxi to your chosen walking start.

A village pickup or drop-off for a day in the Cuckmere valley.

Start or finish a Seaford Head viewpoint walk towards the Coastguard Cottages. The views are beyond the car park.

Start a valley walk towards Cuckmere Haven, or arrange collection at the country park after a longer walk.

A rail connection at the eastern end of your day, with a taxi transfer arranged if needed.
A few ways to plan your day
For the classic viewpoint: start at South Hill Barn (3), walk towards the Coastguard Cottages views and return to your agreed pickup at South Hill Barn.
For the river valley: start at Seven Sisters Country Park (4), follow the signed valley trail towards Cuckmere Haven and return to the country park.
For a longer coastal walk: consider Birling Gap (5) to Exceat (4), using the National Trust’s clifftop route guide. Choose a walk that suits your ability and the conditions.
There is no footbridge at the river mouth. Use the signed route via Exceat Bridge to reach the other side; do not plan a river-mouth crossing. The country park and Cuckmere Inn are separate meeting points either side of the bridge. Follow official visitor guidance and keep away from cliff edges and bases.

Start with the view you want
The famous view across the Seven Sisters is different from standing on the cliffs themselves. Before you book, decide whether you want a viewpoint walk, a valley walk or a visit to a coastal stop. This helps avoid arriving on the wrong side of the Cuckmere.
South Hill Barn: viewpoint walks
From Seaford Station the fixed fare is £10; from Alfriston it is £18. South Hill Barn is a starting point for walking around Seaford Head. Allow for the walk beyond the car park and uneven ground; the viewpoint is not beside the taxi door.
Exceat: the country park
The fare is £11 from Seaford Station or £20 from Alfriston. Exceat suits a visit to Seven Sisters Country Park and the valley. Use official maps to choose your route. The river mouth has no footbridge, so do not plan to simply cross there.
Birling Gap: another part of the coast
The fare is £26 from Seaford or £32 from Alfriston. It is a different access point from Seaford Head and Exceat. Check local access notices before you travel; weather and conditions can affect your plans.
